Nazara Technologies Goes Vertical, Invests In ReelSaga

Nazara Technologies announced the acquisition of a 3.57% stake in ReelSaga, an upcoming serialized short drama video app, with an investment of $250,000 (Rs 2.17 crore).

With this investment, Nazara Technologies will capitalize on the rapidly growing global trend of serialized short dramas. Founded in 2024, ReelSaga is currently in its pre-launch phase. Nazara highlighted that the app will offer hundreds of vertically shot video series, serialized into one to two-minute episodes, catering to the content preferences and fast-paced lifestyle of India’s young, digitally savvy audience. With this, Nazara has got in on the proverbial ‘ground floor’.

The concept of snackable entertainment has increased by leaps and bounds, and several media platforms are now concentrating on streaming vertical-sized content, chief among them being Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Even Facebook now has a stories section that allows users to post vertical-themed content—which is primarily made for mobile phones.

This is not the first time that Nazara has turned its attention to creating content. Earlier, Nazara and its esports arm, Nodwin Gaming, worked with Rusk Media to create mobile-first social serialised media.

Nazara Technologies has been going strong for some time and has been investing in various media companies. The company seems to be going all out. To begin with, the company has raised more than ₹400 Crore from existing investors, adding more funds to its inventory.

It has also increased its investment in companies like Absolute Sports and committed to investing more than ₹150 Crore in the gaming and entertainment industry. When it comes to real-money gaming and poker, Nazara has a whopping ₹900 Crore stake in PokerBaazi, making it one of the most significant parts of its investing basket.

It owns subsidiaries such as Nodwin Gaming and Sportskeeda, expanding its global reach. With ReelSaga, it has added one more company to its arsenal of media companies.

The company has invested in gaming startups and focuses on emerging markets like India, Africa, and the Middle East. Nazara Technologies is publicly traded and continues to grow as a dominant player in the gaming industry, leveraging digital trends and user engagement.

The Indian gaming and real-money gaming industry is seeing a significant upsurge, with increasing investment coming in from both domestic and international resources.  It remains to be seen what Nazara Technology’s next move will be.
