Mumbai’s Siddh Chandarana Beats All Odds To Represent India At FIFAe Nations Online Qualifier

Siddh Chandrana was 14 when doctors advised him to stop playing football. At 20, he will be representing India at FIFAe Nations online qualifier. It’s a dream come true for the Mumbai chad as the virtual version helps him represent India. Technology can truly make all things possible.

As a young boy, Chandarana enjoyed playing the sport on the field and while in school he dreamt of playing for India someday. He had just entered his teens when he was diagnosed with allergic bronchitis, a boy who’d run all over the field was now unable to run much and would get tired easily. By the time he was 14, doctors suggested he give up on the sport completely because his lungs would suffer.

Even while he’d play on the field, he was obsessed with the online version of the game too. And when playing on the field wasn’t an option anymore, he found a way to play his beloved sort on his playstation with increased reprisal.

Chandarana is 20 now and is all set to represent India along with 18-year old Charanjot Singh on Friday, 30 April, 2021. While Chandarana will play on his Xbox and Singh on his playstation, the two boys will compete from their respective homes in Mumbai and Chandigarh.

The Indian team consisting of the two boys will compete against teams from South Africa, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE in the qualifiers. The top two teams from the six will make it through the final stage, i.e the FIFe Nations Cup 2021. The top two teams will be selected through the group stage, two semifinals, loser playoffs, winner final and the loser final. The winners of both these finals will proceed to the finale of the FIFe Nations Cup 2021 to be held in August.

The Indian team’s matches will be live streamed on the official Facebook FIFAe World Cup page as well as on AIFF YouTube channel. The schedule of India’s matches are as follows:

30 April, 2021

Qatar vs India – 17.30 hrs IST

India vs Kuwait – 18.30 hrs IST

UAE vs India – 19.30 hrs IST

1 May, 2021
