MPL Is The Most Secure Gaming Platform In India

Mobile Premier League (MPL), the world’s leading mobile esports and digital gaming platform, has emerged as India’s most-secure gaming platform. These seven layers of security have been given by six independent global security organizations after a meticulous review of the company’s security practices and policies.

The latest recognition MPL received is the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification, which affirms the security and efficiency of its games, systems, and services across various domains, from customer data to infrastructure. In addition to ISO, MPL has also been accredited by Indian and global organizations, including Arthur D’ Little, SHIELD, AIGF, iTech Labs and RedHuntLabs.

MPL’s co-founder, Sai Srinivas, emphasized the company’s dedication to providing a secure gaming environment, stating, “At MPL, our mission is not just to offer unparalleled gaming experiences but also to ensure the highest standards of security for our users.

Our player-first approach drives this commitment to fair play and zero tolerance towards fraud that disrupts the gaming experience for our users. We employ a comprehensive suite of measures, such as GPS identification, robust KYC checks, and machine learning-based pattern recognition, among others, to provide a secure environment. This recognition from global security organizations is a testament to these efforts.

Other security accreditations:

  • MPL’s security initiatives have been recognized by international consulting firm Arthur D’ Little which reviewed the company’s compliance processes with respect to user verification Standards, player protection, responsible gaming, financial integrity, conflict redressal, advertising and promotions, among others.
  • The gaming platform also has received the SHIELD Trust Certification, awarded by SHIELD, a global risk intelligence company. With a trust score of 95.95%, MPL is the world’s first multi-gaming company to acquire this certification.
  • Industry body AIGF, led by former Supreme Court of India Judge J. Vikramjit Sen, awarded MPL with the ‘AIGF Approved Games Certification’ after scrutinizing the skill games offered by the platform. This certification highlights MPL’s commitment to adhering to applicable laws, regulations, and the AIGF Skill Gaming Charter.
  • MPL’s commitment to fair play is reinforced by iTech Labs, the world’s leading testing and certification laboratory for online gaming systems, which awarded the platform certifications for its ‘no bot’ policy and peer-to-peer gameplay.
  • Additionally, the ‘Random Number (RNG) Certification’ from iTech Labs affirms the unpredictability, non-repeatability, and uniform distribution of card sequences in MPL’s card games.
  • Taking a proactive approach to security, MPL conducts annual third-party audits, with the most recent audit conducted by London-based cybersecurity solutions provider, RedHuntLabs. These audits ensure the resilience of both MPL’s product and infrastructure against vulnerabilities, showcasing the platform’s commitment to staying ahead of evolving cyber threats.

The company also runs a Global Bug Bounty program where external security researchers can report any valid security vulnerability in MPL’s system and get a reward up to INR 10 lakh. It also was the first gaming company in India to preemptively ban over a million accounts for fraud.

India is one of the fastest-growing gaming markets in the world. The online gaming industry grew to $2.6 billion in FY22 and is expected to reach $8.6 billion by FY27, at a CAGR of 27 per cent. This explosive rise has made it an enticing target for cybercriminals with threats ranging from multiple logins, chargebacks and location spoofing, to Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, adware and phishing.

Between July 1, 2022, and July 1, 2023, Kaspersky documented 436,786 attempts to infect mobile devices, impacting 84,539 mobile users globally. Norton’s Cyber Safety Report underscores the severity of the situation in India, revealing that three out of four Indian gamers have suffered cyberattacks, resulting in cash losses, malicious software installations (35%), and hacked accounts (29%).

This trend is further validated by Experian, a data analysis and consumer credit rating company, which found that 30% of Indian consumers said they are vulnerable to fraud in gaming. Cybersecurity company Arkose Labs reported a staggering 260% global increase in online fraud, including an 85% surge in fake account registrations in Q1 2022 compared to Q4 2021. These reports underscore the urgency for enhanced security measures in the gaming industry to counter evolving cyber threats.
