Michael Moncek Leads Day 1 of Super High Roller Bowl Mixed Games

Michael “Texas Mike” Moncek entered late but came in with a bang on Day 1 of the historic first-ever $100,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl Mixed Games. He leads the 17 players who bagged chips at the end of Day 1, with Daniel Negreanu sitting in second.

Even though Moncek came late, he quickly got to work, winning a massive hand of pot-limit Omaha to skyrocket his stack up the leaderboard. On that big hand, Moncek got involved in a three-way all-in clash with Albert Daher and Talal Shakerchi where he eliminated Shakerchi and took the majority of Daher’s chips.

Moncek finished the day with 1,438,000 and was the only player to bag a seven-figure stack to end Day 1. Negreanu bagged a healthy 819,000 to finish the opening day second in chips. Then it’s Matthew Ashton (781,000), Benny Glaser (780,000), and John Racener (554,000) to round out the top five of the leaderboard.

1. Michael Moncek – 1,438,000

8. Philip Sternheimer – 407,000
9. Jason Mercier – 305,000
10. Eric Wasserson – 302,000
11. Maxx Coleman – 291,000

13. Johannes Becker – 238,000
14. Talal Shakerchi – 178,000
15. Ray Dehkharghani – 150,000
16. J. David Rogers – 93,000
17. Nick Guagenti – 74,000

On Day 1 of the $100,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl Mixed Games, the field grew to 25 entries. Registration is open until the start of Day 2 at 1 p.m. PT on Friday, March 7, so there is good potential that the field size will get even more prominent and might even stretch up to 30.

Of course, not everyone was able to advance to Day 2. As it stands right now, Nick Schulman, John Hennigan, Albert Daher, Yuri Dzivielevski, and Samuel Sternfield have been eliminated. All five can still reenter as they haven’t used up their single reentry option. Players who busted, reentered and bag chips for Day 2 are Philip Sternheimer, Talal Shakerchi, and Johannes Becker.
