Mehta, Kumar, Sreedhar among winners on SVS Day 5

Yesterday was the fifth day of the ongoing Spartan Value Series (SVS) where players can buy-in for little or nothing and work their way up to the big prizes. Once again, five tournaments were hosted during the day and five different winners also emerged, each making considerable bankroll additions for small/mid-stakes players. Keep reading for our complete summary of SVS Day 5 on Spartan Poker

SVS Event #21 INR 30k GTD

The first tournament of the day had a low buy-in of only INR 110 and 274 entries registered to the event, with the top 20 eventually being paid out a minimum of INR 402 each. Coming out on top of the field was Mayur Mehta aka ‘K@njusSindhi’ who bagged the title and also added INR 7,200 for first place to his bankroll. In the final hand, Mehta held Tens and Twos which was enough to beat ‘Tequila05’ who also won a title earlier in this series. Here, the player bagged INR 4,890 for finishing second.

SVS Event #22 INR 55k GTD

The buy-in for the second tournament was doubled to INR 220 and here, 215 entries joined the field. Only the top 17 players finished in the money but each of them quadrupled their money with a minimum cash prize of INR 863. Spartan Poker regular Monish Kumar aka ‘sylvester’ ended as the champion, bagging INR 13,838 for this victory. He has won plenty on Spartan in the past including an SSS Leaderboard victory late last year. Here, he beat ‘DragonGlass’ in heads-up and the latter was awarded INR 9,350 for finishing second best.

SVS Event #23 INR 70k GTD

The buy-ins kept rising on SVS Day 5 and here, each of the 250 entries in this field paid INR 330 to enter the tournament and eventually, the new prize pool of INR 75,000 was shared among the top 20 positions with a min-cash of INR 1,005. Sandeep Sreedhar managed to make his way past this field, outlasting each and every entry to win the title and add INR 18,000 to his bankroll, playing as ‘shreister’ on Spartan Poker. When asked about this victory, Sreedhar said, “Kudos to Spartan for organizing a series like SVS right after IOPC. Brings out the best player fields in India and I hope they continue doing more to spread the game.”

SVS Event #24 Prime Time INR 2 Lakh GTD

The prime-time tournament had a buy-in of INR 550 and 310 entries registered, from which only the top 27 were paid with a min-cash of INR 2,000. The player field was slightly tougher in this tournament and eventually, ‘Mr.Meursau1T’ was crowned champion, bagging INR 44,300 for winning the event. In the final hand, both players in heads-up had hit a straight on the river. ‘pshark’ had an A-5 straight but the eventual winner had a 2-6 straight which gave him the pot and the title. pshark had to settle for INR 29,900 for the runner-up prize.

SVS Event #25 Hi-Fi INR 4 Lakh GTD

Regardless of whether other tournaments do well on Spartan, the daily Hi-Fi always does well and here, 501 entries all contributed INR 1,100 each to the prize pool, beating the guarantee once again. The new prize pool of INR 5.01 Lakh was then shared by the top 33 players, each cashing for at least INR 3,256 last night. Becoming the only 6-figure winner of the night, ‘TheSharkIsBack’ won the title and bagged INR 1,00,200 for this effort. Playing from the FTRpoker platform, it was ‘Grinderrr’ who finished in the runner-up position for the second time this series, last night adding INR 70,140 to his bankroll.
