Max Silver wins EPT Barcelona €10k High Roller

The European Poker Tour (EPT) began around 15 years ago at the Casino Barcelona and this has always been one of their most popular poker stops over the years. Yesterday was the final day of the latest edition of the EPT Barcelona, with a couple of major tournaments coming to an end.

Of course, most of the focus was on the €5,300 Main Event, but the €10,300 High Roller was also being played out on this final day. Ultimately, it was UK’s Max Silver who walked away with the EPT High Roller trophy, the title and the huge first-place prize of €600,924 (~INR 4.94 crore).

There was a massive field of 439 entries that registered to this tournament and the action boiled down to the final table yesterday, where a three-way deal saw players locking up a certain prize amount plus €60,000 to the eventual winner. Silver was behind in chips at the time of the deal, after which he chipped up and even won the title, but the runner-up took away a bigger prize.

“I haven’t played much recently, so this is kind of a surprise. That being said, I felt comfortable in this event – any event you win, you end up feeling pretty comfortable! I’ve been playing a lot less poker recently, and with this win hopefully I can play even less!” said Silver after this victory.

Hungary’s Norbert Szecsi finished second but took away the biggest prize of €626,357, as both players won what became their highest career live cashes. Finishing third was Dutchman Joris Ruijs, who also won a career-best amount of €488,819, beating the €260,050 he earned just a couple of days back, for shipping Event #19 of the same series.

Final table results:

  1. Max Silver – €600,924
  2. Norbert Szecsi – €626,357
  3. Joris Ruijs – €488,819
  4. Richard Kirsch – €295,960
  5. Orpen Kisacikoglu – €232,080
  6. Cord Garcia – €181,830
  7. Zhong Chen – €136,700
  8. Niall Farrell – €97,100
