Malik, Jaggi and Kiran cash out in $1,500 Mixed Event

The 2018 World Series of Poker has been a great one for Indian players so far, as we’re reaching the last few days of this prestigious poker tournament series. Nikita Luther brought home a gold bracelet while Nishant Sharma made the best run by an Indian in WSOP Main Event history.

Quite a few Indians have made deep runs this year and Aditya Sushant is one of them, currently in the top 14 of the Little One for One Drop Event. Running along with that tournament was Event #72: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold’em/Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed, where three Indian players finished in the money.

The first to cash out was Kranthi Kiran Varikuti, who narrowly made the money. 107 players were to be paid out and he finished in 98th place for the minimum cash prize of $2,240 (~INR 1.53 lakh). Remember, Kiran was one of the four players sent to Las Vegas by The Spartan Poker, for winning the Destiny tournament series.

The next Indian to hit the rail was Mayank Jaggi, currently on his first trip to the World Series. While he made three small cashes in the 2018 WSOP, he made a big splash by finishing 6th in a Wynn Summer Classic tournament, taking home a career-best $56,379 (~INR 38.57 lakh). In this tournament, he cashed out in 89th place for $2,296 (~INR 1.57 lakh).

The third Indian to cash out in the Mixed Event was Akash Malik, a highly experienced Indian poker player with more than quarter million dollars in live poker cashes. He recorded his fourth cash of the 2018 WSOP by finishing 42nd in this tournament for $3,504 (~2.39 lakh). USA’s Ryan Leng currently leads the last 15 players in this tournament.
