Madhav Gupta and 3 others progress from Crazy Eights 1C

Event #64: $888 Crazy Eights No-Limit Hold’em is one of the most popular tournaments currently taking place at the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) and this will end just before the prestigious Main Event begins on 3rd July. Four starting flights have been scheduled and we’re here to report the end of the third of them.

In the opening flight, we unfortunately didn’t have any Indians progressing, but the second flight saw Kartik Ved, Ashish Ahuja and Lawrence Xavier making it through the day and on to Day 2. Now, we’ve reached the end of Day 1C and four more Indians will progress to Day 2. 6 Indians cashed in this event last year and we hope to equal that this year, if not better it.

Leading the Indian charge from 1C is Madhav Gupta who ended the day with a strong stack of 545,000 chips which at the current level is worth around 46 Big Blinds. He wasn’t alone in surviving the day, with the other players progressing being Raghav Bansal (249,000 chips), Siddharth Mundada (213,000 chips) and Akshay Nasa (91,000 chips).

With unlimited re-entries, a field of 2,830 entries registered on this third starting flight and by the end of the scheduled levels of play, we had 333 players moving on to Day 2 (Plus 209 from first two flights). The pay-outs began to the top 425 places with a min-cash of $1,332 and those who missed the money from India include Aditya Agarwal and Paawan Bansal.

Mayank Jaggi cashed but busted before the end of the day, exiting in 350th place for $1,492 which also became his first cash of WSOP 2019. The overall chip leader for the day is UK’s Ian Simpson who progresses with 1,284,000 chips while the likes of Josh Arieh, Sam Razavi, Florian Duta and others also progressed.

Day 1C top 10 chip counts:

  1. Ian Simpson – 1,284,000
  2. Alexandre Fradin – 1,125,000
  3. Adam Daniel – 1,078,000
  4. Shaun McBride – 938,000
  5. Sam Razavi – 926,000
  6. Hertsel Levy – 924,000
  7. Unknown – 906,000
  8. Gabi Livshitz – 899,000
  9. Lucas Fritz – 893,000
