‘Loki19’ ships IOPC Event #26

Another day of thrilling poker action at the virtual felts of The Spartan Poker came to an end yesterday. Currently, the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) is being played on Spartan over a period of 10 days, and Day 5 came to an end with IOPC #26 10 Lac Gtd (2750 RE), which kicked off at 9:30pm IST.

The leading poker website ended the day with an INR 10 lakh guarantee tournament and the guarantee was beaten yet again, as it has so many times since the IOPC began. 555 entries registered to the tournament and the new prize pool generated was INR 13,87,500 which was to be distributed among the top 47 players with a minimum cash prize of INR 7,909.

The tournament came to an end in the early hours of today morning and after a few hours of grinding, it was ‘Loki19’ who came out on top of this field, shipping the event for a massive prize of INR 2,70,424. It was not before Level #46 that the tournament came to an end, when the blinds were running 27,000/54,000 – 6,750.

The player had a 4:1 chip lead against heads-up opponent ‘ns36’ and the latter decided to move all-in without seeing the flop, with A-5. Loki19 thought about it and made the call, with A-9. The board opened 2-3-7-J-10 and none of the players bettered their hands. Both had an Ace-high hand, but Loki19 took down the pot with a higher kicker, 9. ns36 took home a handsome prize of INR 1,71,773 for coming second.

We contacted the winner after the tournament and he let us know his experience, while wishing to stay anonymous. He said, “IOPC fields are always some of the toughest in online poker in India. I am really stoked to ship this event and really happy with the way I played. Hoping to continue the run for the rest of the series.”
