As per a news report by Techcrunch, LinkedIn will be adding a gaming vertical onto its platform. The news report stated that LinkedIn is looking to boost the time spent on its platform by adding puzzle-like games. LinkedIn, which primarily operates in the space of job seeking, professional courses and networking, are on a mission to replicate the success gained by Wordle. At the end of last year, The New York Times, which bought the viral hit Wordle, reportedly mentioned that millions of gamers continue to play the game. According to Techcrunch, three games which are being developed by LinkedIn are ‘Queens’, ‘Inference’ and ‘CrossClimb’.
An independent app researcher and web developer tweeted saying, “BREAKING: #LinkedIn is working on IN-APP GAMES! There are going to be a few different games and companies will be ranked in the games based on the scores of their employees! Pretty cool and fun, in my opinion!”

A LinkedIn spokesperson has reportedly confirmed that the brand is indeed working on its gaming vertical, but so far, no launch date has been set. “We’re playing with adding puzzle-based games within the LinkedIn experience to unlock a bit of fun, deepen relationships, and hopefully spark the opportunity for conversations. Stay tuned for more,” the spokesperson reportedly told TechCrunch. This source from LinkedIn whose identity remains a mystery further added that the images shared by the app researcher on Twitter weren’t the latest versions.

Coming to Microsoft, which is a gaming giant, owns LinkedIn. The brand’s gaming business, which includes the likes of Xbox, Activision Blizzard and ZeniMax, reportedly pulled in $7.1 Billion in revenue in the last quarter. This figure surpassed Windows revenue for the very first time. The LinkedIn spokesperson did not comment on how and if Microsoft is in the picture when it comes to LinkedIn’s gaming efforts.
