Lester Edoc Wins APT Philippines Main Event

The 2018 APT Philippines turned out to be a fantastic series for Lester Edoc!

The Philippine national poker pro won the inaugural APL Road Series Main Event a month back, followed it up with shipping the Manila Super Series 6 Main Event, and then continued his hot streak at Main Events, by shipping the recently concluded APT Philippines Main Event.

The APT Philippines Championships 2018 kicked off on 21st March and ended on 2nd April 2018, where Edoc had a brilliant outing. He finished 9th in a DeepStacks event, 2nd in the Championships Event and shipped the Main Event, for an impressive ?2,674,900 (~INR 33.4 lakh). This was his second highest live cash and his career earnings have reached nearly half a million dollars!

The ?55,000 buy-in Main Event took place between 24-28 March and a total field of 325 entries nearly doubled the guaranteed prizepool from ?8 million to ?15.76 million (~$300,545). 55 players finished in the money and this was the second time Edoc reached heads up in this event, after losing in 2013. Edoc won the last hand with A-high and was crowned the new APT Philippines champion!

Heads up action between the two of them went on for over 3 hours and a total of 84 hands before a winner could be decided. Hand #84 saw both players going all-in post-flop, with Edoc having two-pair and Yogo with a flush draw. The board ran 4-J-3-5-5, which gave Yogo a higher two-pair, holding J-2, over Edoc’s 4-3.
