Kartik Ved, Deepak Bothra progress from Day 2C of BIG 50

Poker lovers across the world are all talking about Event #3: The Big 50 – $500 NLHE of WSOP 2019 where we recently witnessed a record-breaking tournament field of 28,000+ entries after four starting flights of this low buy-in event. From us too, there’s a lot to be excited about since quite a few Indians are in the mix, including two more who have now progressed from Day 2C.

Two Indians made the cut from 2A, another two from 2B and now, two more from 2C. When this third Day 2 flight began, Kunal Patni was leading 5 Indians in chip counts, but unfortunately, he couldn’t make it to the end of the day. The other two who also busted along the way were Prashray Rai and Sriharsha Doddapaneni.

However, we still have plenty to be hopeful about as Kartik Ved has bagged a decent stack of 1,150,000 chips going into Day 3. Ved began the day with a below-average stack of 247k and he did brilliantly to make it so far, which goes to show how talented this player is. He will be accompanied by Deepak Bothra, who progresses with 400k. Again, Bothra began the day as the lowest stacked Indian and he played well to progress.

Everyone from position 1,078th onwards received at least $750 in prize money but when the field resumes on Day 3 on 5th June, everyone will be aiming for that million-dollar first prize as well as a gold bracelet. Female player Saya Ono with 3,180,000 chips ended as chip leader of the day and is second highest overall on Day 2 so far, with only one flight 2D left to be played.

Day 2C top 10 chip counts:

  1. Saya Ono – 3,810,000
  2. Benjamin Dobson – 3,560,000
  3. Nelson Rose – 2,915,000
  4. Ubaid Habib – 2,600,000
  5. Danny Ehrenberger – 2,440,000
  6. Catherine Valdes – 2,430,000
  7. Renato Manalo – 2,360,000
  8. Samuel Welbourne – 2,275,000
  9. Janae Pham – 2,250,000
  10. Jiehao Zhu – 2,230,000

Both our Indian players are guaranteed money finishes, but we have to see is how deep they can run when they resume on Day 3. Until then, stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com.
