Kanishka Samant hunts his way to victory on Spartan

Head-Hunter INR 10 Lakh GTD is slowly becoming one of the most popular featured tournaments on Spartan Poker, primarily because of the bounty format it is played in. Hosted every Thursday night at 7:30pm, the tournament has a buy-in of INR 5,500 and yesterday was another edition of this event.

Last night, a total of 221 entries registered to the progressive knockout tournament and from them, just the top 23 players received tournament pay-outs of a minimum of INR 11,600 each. However, the tournament format allowed players to get paid even if they finished before the money bubble, in the form of bounties through eliminations.

Many known names were a part of the field and the player to ship it was also a popular face in Kanishka Samant aka ‘Wildflower’. Samant has won many major titles on Spartan Poker in the past, including winning the Destiny 8.0 Finale SnG recently, where he was rewarded with an INR 10 Lakh package trip to a poker destination in Europe.

He also seems to like the Sunday feature called SuperStack as he has won that a couple of times, but this becomes his first Head-Hunter title on Spartan. He topped the field and beat ‘komal1’ in heads-up to take away total winnings of INR 2,74,335 which included INR 2,32,500 from the tournament prize pool and the rest from the bounty prize pool.

Some of the known grinders to cash in last night’s tournament include Lakshpal Singh aka ‘LuckyBhai$’ (22nd), Neeraj Kumar aka ‘Jannat52’ (18th), Bibek Karki aka ‘BIBEK329’ (16th), Rubin Labroo aka ‘kornkid’ (8th), Arsh Grover aka ‘BigggTymeR’ (7th), Arjanveer Chadha aka ‘bazzinggaa’ (6th), Sandeep Varma aka ‘effuno’ (5th) and others.

Gutshot congratulated Samant on this victory asked him about the experience. He said, “The final table had some good players but when it was down to 5, everyone just wanted to ladder up and this gave a great opportunity to keep chipping up. Down to 3-handed, I had accumulated a huge stack and it went on smoothly from there.”
