Joey Saha ends 9th in 888poker Barcelona Main Event

While the world has descended upon Las Vegas to participate in the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP), quite a few names have travelled elsewhere in search of high value poker tournaments. One of them was obviously the 888poker LIVE Barcelona Main Event, a 3-day tournament which came to an end yesterday at Casino Barcelona.

The series saw hundreds of players from across several countries and we also had Indian presence there. Joey Saha is someone who has been making a name for himself in the Indian poker circuit in recent times, winning and winning big too. He won the Diwali Rush Main Event on PokerStars India last year for a massive score, only to record a bigger, life-changing score by winning IOPC Millionaire on Spartan in January 2019.

Now however, he has travelled halfway across the world in search of another big score, getting one too by finishing 9th in the 888poker Barcelona Main Event and bagging his highest live cash of €8,500 (~INR 6.62 Lakh). Prior to this, his only other live cash was of INR 4.8 Lakh for finishing 4th in the Feb 2019 DPT High Roller.

Saha won a seat into the Main Event via an 888poker online qualifier and he seems to have made a good profit out of it. Down to his last 570k chips, Saha moved all-in with As3s and got a call from Ferran Corominas, who revealed AhQh. The first four cards fired blanks for both and the Ace on the river gave Corominas the win with a higher kicker, knocking out Saha in 9th place.

As the tournament progressed, the winner turned out to be Italy’s Gabriele Rossi who won €110,000 along with a trip to Las Vegas, where he will look to multiply these winnings. The 23-year old had just about $15,000 in cashes prior to this win, with no titles in the past either.
