JioCinema Announces India’s First Poker Learning Series – Poker Masterclass

PokerBaazi is among the most famous online poker apps in India. It has now collaborated with JioCinema to present a unique poker-based show, Poker Masterclass. JioCinema has been a disruptive force in entertainment, and the latest addition to their arsenal is good news for Indian poker players.

The streaming behemoth put up a post on X, announcing India’s first poker learning game show series, Poker Masterclass. According to the post, the series is Jio’s collaboration with PokerBaazi, the popular online poker platform. PokerBaazi had earlier held a Poker Masterclass from 29th May to 2nd June in Goa and featured popular Indian poker players Shravan Chhabria, Abhishek Goindi, Vinod Megalmani, and Kanishka Samant.

The show promises a new monetization platform for poker mentors and people who can guide newer players. With so many content possibilities, the Indian poker community has something to rejoice about and look forward to. According to the post, 28 poker players will gather with poker masters and create four teams with one goal – to become the best team of the Poker Masterclass, batch of 2024. The teams are:

  • Antitilters
  • Pocket Rockets
  • Crushers

Set in India’s poker capital, Goa, the series features 28 players who participated in a five-day poker camp while being guided and coached by 4 Indian poker maestros to prepare for Indian Poker Masters hosted on PokerBaazi.

PokerBaazi has been making a splash in the media for a while

PokerBaazi is one of the newest players in the market, and they have been going pretty aggressive with their marketing. A23 signed up Shah Rukh Khan and Pokerbaazi’s deal with Shahid Kapoor had the big name feature in Pokerbaazi ads and social posts. With this collaboration with JioCinema, PokerBaazi enters one of the biggest entertainment platforms in India, and poker too.

The bold decision to put a show about poker mainstream is not the only one that JioCinema has taken. Earlier, the streaming channel offered a month’s subscription for one of the lowest price points in the market – a mere ₹29 per month.

With Jio in the fray of the felt, there’s no saying what big announcement might come for the Indian poker community going ahead. India is slowly but surely trying to make poker more mainstream. While online poker apps advertise aggressively, some tournaments happen exclusively in India.
