Ivan Leow leads final 8 in OPC Macau Main Event

Just a couple of weeks back, the Poker King Club announced the launch of the inaugural Oriental Poker Championship (OPC) which was to be played between 23-28 May 2018, at the Venetian Macau Resort and Hotel in Macau. 10 side events and the mega HKD 16,500 Main Event were scheduled to be played between these dates.

A couple of days back, Malaysia’s Ivan Leow made headlines for becoming the first player to win an OPC High Roller Event, beating 43 entries and taking home a massive prize of HKD 1,442,300 (~$183,740) for first place in the HKD 100k High Roller. He hasn’t stopped there, ending Day 3 of the prestigious Main Event as the chip leader.

Final 8 chip counts:

  1. Ivan Leow – 3,940,000
  2. Chang Bo Feng – 3,025,000
  3. Austin Walton – 2,125,000
  4. Wei Yi Zhang – 1,990,000
  5. Xiaobo Zhou – 1,390,000
  6. Sang Hwang – 1,265,000
  7. Yuefeng Pan – 1,250,000
  8. Yazhou Chen – 375,000

Leow also finished on the final table twice at the recent Triton High Roller series in Montenegro, including a career best cash of $362,424, making it a great month of May for him so far. However, he will be looking to make it even better by keeping the advantage and shipping the title on Day 4 of the OPC Macau Main Event. Can he complete this historic double and become one of Macau poker’s best?

He also topped Day 1c and then Day 2, which makes him a huge favourite to win, provided he gets past some experienced players on the final table, like China’s Wei Yi Zhang and USA’s Austin Walton. Day 4 action has already begun in Macau and we will be bringing to you all major updates from this event, so keep reading GutshotMagazine.com!
