Ishu Khurana Nails Gutshot’s Exclusive 10K Freeroll On Spartan Poker

Gutshot hosted an exclusive 10K freeroll on Spartan Poker on Sunday, 9th January 2022 at 7 PM. And as usual, it was a fun and action-packed tournament. The freeroll had  65 entries battling it out for the top spot. However, only the top 15 places received a portion of the 10K prize pool. The min-cash at this tourney stood at ₹210. 

Ishu Khurana aka ‘GenerationX’ shipped this free-to-enter tournament and added ₹2,900 to his bankroll. At the runner-up spot, Ajay Negi aka ‘ajaynegi688’ took home ₹1,750. During the heads-up, Negi posted the small blind of ₹2,000 with his K♣ 7♠ hole cards, and Khurana posted the big blind of ₹4,000 with 3♣ Q♣ hole cards.

Negi called 2,000 and Khurana checked. The flop opened to 2♣ K♠ 5♣ and Khurana bet 6,000, and  Negi called once again. The turn showed 7♥ and Khurana bet 16,500. Negi raised to 33,000 and Khurana called. J♣ came on the river, following which Khurana bet 66,000. Negi went all-in with his remaining 40,200. Khurana won the pot with a flush as Negi finished second with two pairs (KK,77).

Talking about his victory, Khurana said, “Firstly, I want to thank Gutshot for giving me the opportunity of becoming a Gutshot player on Spartan Poker. I always play Gusthot exclusive on Spartan Poker, and this time I shipped the tournament. I am very excited about my victory. My strategy throughout the game was simple—put your best skills to work and read your cards well. 

Also, thanks to Gutshot for providing the add-on option in the tournament. When I reached the top 5, my aim was to finish first. My strategy then was to stop limping, not to call with one pair, and not to play aggressively with good cards. I just played calm and when I got the right cards, I grabbed the opportunity. I feel very good about shipping the tournament.”

When asked about one poker advice he would like to give, Khurana said, “Just play keeping in mind your bankroll. And once you’re in the top 5, use your poker skills and best strategies to win the game.”

Negi, while talking about his second-place finish says, “I have been playing online poker for some time now, and it has been a great experience to win a good amount of money. At the moment, I am not playing for money, but to improve my skills and play for fun. This freeroll tournament organised by Gutshot is very good and I participate every time there is a game. I find this tournament very useful to improve my skills. If I were to rate Gutshot’s exclusive freerolls, I would give 10/10.”
