Indian poker players have finally arrived on the global scene. The year 2024 is wrapping up, and it has been an eventful year for the poker industry and poker players, especially for Indian poker players. With the most elite among them playing at some of the biggest poker tournaments, the Indian poker players made a mark and grabbed headlines consistently.

Here’s a list of the top 5 contenders for the Poker Player of the Year.

#1 Santhosh Suvarna’s 2nd WSOP Bracelet Win Propels His Poker Greatness in 2024

It was indeed a proud moment for the Indian poker industry when the mere fact that two-time WSOP bracelet winner Santhosh Suvarna was playing at World Series of Poker’s WSOP Paradise earned an Instagram post from the organizer, arguably one of the biggest brands in the poker industry.

Santhosh Suvarna consistently grabs headlines in the poker industry. He is the only Indian to have two WSOP bracelets, the most valuable piece of poker jewellery. He shipped the first in 2023 at WSOP Europe, when he shipped the 50K Diamond High Roller (Bracelet Event #12), which had a prize of upwards of $690,000 (~₹5,80,18,482).

#2 Nishant Sharma becomes Triple Crown Holder at Poker Dream Main Event 2024

India’s Nishant Sharma created history by shipping the Main Event of a poker event thrice, with two of those victories coming in a row. He did that by shipping the ME of Poker Dream 13.
