Hyderabad Metro Removes All Illegal Gaming App Branding

Gaming app advertisements have become pretty visible and possibly a very good financial model for everyone involved.  However, if one goes by what Hyderabad Metro did recently, that might soon be a thing of the past. In a surprising move, Hyderabad Metro has removed all hoardings of gaming apps from its trains and stations.

This development took place after the Court intervened in the matter. The intervention itself was the result of a Public Interest Litigation filed in the Telangana High Court. According to reports, the PIL stated that the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HRML) was enabling illegal betting platforms through advertising.

This now raises the question of whether ads for these betting apps will disappear from Metros around the country. For example, the Mumbai Metro also allows advertisements and promotions of such apps. Hyderabad Metro had advertisements for at least three separate gaming apps before the PIL came up for hearing, and the advertisements were scrapped.
