‘HouseMD’ wins Big Daddy and trip to Goa from Spartan

The Spartan Poker is one of India’s biggest and best online poker companies and their Sunday grind tournaments are famous all over the country, with a number of high-value tournaments scheduled every week. These tournaments also see massive participation as Sunday is a holiday for most people.

One of their most popular tournaments is the Big Daddy, where the ultimate winner gets to take home his/her tournament winnings in addition to an INR 30,000 package trip to Goa, inclusive of flight tickets, hotel accommodation and entry to the Big Daddy poker room in Goa.

Big Daddy INR 5 Lakh GTD started at 4pm yesterday, with a buy-in of INR 880 and a total field of 456 entries joining the tournament by the end of the registration period. The top 36 places were paid out a min-cash of INR 3,250 in the tournament, which ended after a little over 5 hours of grinding.

The winner seems to be a big fan of the Hugh Laurie character ‘House’, playing under the name ‘HouseMD’ and playing from the FTRPoker platform. Regardless, the player outlasted the field on the day and was very well awarded for it, taking away INR 1,00,000 in prize money as well as an INR 30k Goa poker package.

In heads-up, he beat ‘Mashi_Hun_Bhai’, a player who has missed out on a title for the second time in the last week or so. Just on the night of 11th October, he finished second to online pro Anirban Das in SSS Event #21. Now, he has another runner-up finish, taking home a prize of INR 70,000 in the Big Daddy tournament.

By Level #40, the blinds had reached 20,000/40,000 – 4,000 and HouseMD had a lead of over 3:1 before we witnessed the final hand. He made a 72k pre-flop raise with pocket Tens and Mashi_Hun_Bhai decided to go all-in with Qh Jd as the players revealed their cards and the board opened As 9s 6s 2s 9h.
