Hawk Tuah Girl Comes To Poker

Haliey Welch, widely known as the “Hawk Tuah Girl” following her viral video earlier in 2024, made her poker debut at the Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) Invitational IV held at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.

Despite admitting to having no prior poker experience, Welch joined a star-studded lineup that included NBA All-Star Dwight Howard, magician Xavier Mortimer, and social media personalities like Ethan Klein and Steiny.

In her first hand, Welch, holding 10♠6♣, called a raise and faced a flop of J♣A♠3♦. Unfamiliar with the game’s intricacies, she folded after a minimal bet, stating, “I don’t understand”. 

A notable moment occurred when Welch flopped two pair with K♥3♣ on a 3♥K♣10♣ board. However, distracted by Mortimer’s impromptu magic trick, she folded her strong hand. Commentators expressed surprise at her decision, noting the missed opportunity. Later, Welch managed to double her chips when her K♥Q♠ flopped top two pair against opponents’ draws, securing a significant pot.

Her tournament run ended when her pocket sixes were bested by Vegas Matt’s trip sevens, which evolved into a whole house. Despite the loss, Welch remained upbeat, expressing enjoyment and a newfound understanding of poker.
