USOP Hai Phong Championship Event: Strange 6-Way Deal Gives Harsh Bubna Runner-Up Spot

Harsh Bubna battled with the best at the USOP Hai Phong Championship Event of USOP Grand Finale 2024, and though he didn’t win the coveted prize, his poker skills and grit earned him a prestigious second position in the ITM list. It was all going well until regulations by the USOP  – that all games must finish before the midnight deadline bit – which started a 6-way deal. Bubna ranked 2nd and took home the prize of VND 1,908,930,000 ($75,170)

The midnight deadline is unique to USOP, as poker tournaments usually go longer into the night. The six-way deal at the USOP Hai Phong Championship event caused by this deadline could have been lucky for some and unlucky for some, but it definitely worked in Bubna’s favour.

The one who shipped the event was John Matsuda of the Philippines, who took home VND 2,503,820,000 ($98,600), the lion’s share of the prize pool that was VND 22,376,700,000, which actually rose from VND 20,000,000,000. The event, which began on 9th December, ended on 11th December and saw a total of 1054 entries. The buy-in for this was VND 25,000,000.

5 Zhang Xun VND 1,715,420,000

The event was a culmination of several factors, and Gutshot Magazine congratulates Harsh Bubna on his success. He has definitely come a long way from his previous best live cash, which was $17,187 at the same tournament’s No Limit Hold’Em—Megastack event on December 8th, where he ranked third.

Therefore, Bubna has completed the rare feat of beating his own best score twice in a matter of a week and at different events in the same tournament. Also, his take-home at this event was more than 50 per cent of his lifetime earnings before the event concluded.
