Hairabedian triumphs PLO High Roller in King’s Casino after Lockdown


Live poker is slowly returning to action with the reopening of several casinos. One of the Europe’s largest card rooms, King’s Casino in Rozvadov had been closed for several weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the month of March, the casino remained closed for Italian players but eventually on 3rd April with the increasing number of virus cases, the continent became one of the hardest hit by coronavirus and that’s when the casino announced to shut for all visitors till 1 September 2020.

They declared a “multi-month ban…but at least six months.” However, the Czech Republic government announced the re-opening in May and King’s Resort and Casino opened their doors to customers, with appropriate security measures in place. Czech Republic has confirmed 10,498 cases till date with 7,499 already recovered.

King’s Casino has become the first casino in Europe to host a live poker series from 20 June. At first smaller live events commenced and ever since then the venue recorded hundreds of participants. On Friday evening, 20 June, a total of 325 entries emerged in a €115 bounty event and the top 39 spots were paid. PokerNews reported, “From a mind-blowing €100k buy-in two-day PLO HIGHROLLER kicking off on Saturday, June 20, to an impressive lineup of poker festivals, the largest poker room in Europe aims to distribute over €1.2 Million in guarantees during the course of the next two months.”

The latest event King’s PLO High Roller €2,500 buy-in ran from 20 June to 21 June. A total of 60 entries boosted the prize pool to €128,250 which was well-received by the top 7 players. Ultimately, it was France’s two-time WSOP bracelet winner Roger Hairabedian who knocked out Christian Stratmeyer in heads-up and clinched to the top prize of €40,401. Among those to cash were also Eric Lescot, Harry Casagrande, and Jonas Kronwitter.
