Greenwood, Wolff among first winners at British Poker Open

£10,000 No-Limit Hold’em

The 2019 British Poker Open series will be played out between 2^nd and 12^th September at the Aspers Casino Newcastle. The first event £10,000 No-Limit Hold’em started off on Monday with a slow pace.

Day 1 may not have been a great start with a maximum of 26 entries, but the prize money was enough to attract players. Luc Greenwood championed the first win in the series history. The Canadian took £119,600 home after grabbing $850k worth of prizes at the recent EPT Barcelona.

Now, his total live earnings are at $3.8+ million. Emerging as a notorious winner Greenwood had his eyes fixed after a hot start. The Canadian ended the event saying, “I can’t remember the last time I won a tournament; the money is obviously top priority but getting the win is awesome.”

£10,000 Pot-limit Omaha

The BPO continued on Wednesday with four-card action in £10,000 Pot-limit Omaha where George Wolff topped a field of 30 entries. This was his first-ever live poker tournament win, defeating Sam Soverel heads-up. Wolff entered the event with a sizeable chip lead over Soverel, one of the top high-stakes players in the game. The series has only just begun and all of these players have much more to play for in the days to come.
