Goa Government permits shifting of Deltin Caravela

Goa casinos are 20 years old and yet are globally attracting tourists in thousands. The struggle for the relocation of all offshore casinos from the River Mandovi in Goa has been an on-going issue. However, the Port Minister, Michael Lobo assured an alternative site for casinos near the Aguada Bay, back in September 2019.

Owning and operating casinos in Goa and Sikkim, Delta Corp Limited is a casino gaming industry in India having three offshore casinos in Goa. Poker enthusiasts enter in magnificent numbers each day in Deltin Royale and Deltin JAQK, amongst the largest offshore casinos in Goa. The only floating hotel is Deltin Caravela Casino which will soon be shifting.

The movement from the riverfront owes to two conditions. One, tourists report the discomfort they underwent in the moving vessels, emerging out of tidal conditions. The travelers also complain about the physical uneasiness that leads to throwing up. Additionally, the real struggle lies while boarding these vessels. As per the reports, the ferry will be relocated near the Verem side of Mandovi.

Regarding the shifting in few days, Lobo added, “I have cleared the file, and the order has been issued by the government allowing a change in the location of Deltin Caravela.” One may also recollect that the administration turned down the option of shifting both Delta Corps’ largest casino on the capital side of Mandovi River which was moored in the Campal Bay in the river.

Goa is a home for the poker admirers in the country. Experiencing some of the biggest tournaments so far, the decision was earlier left upon the Captain of Ports to identify a suitable location to relocate offshore casinos. The industry contributes more than Rs 400 crore to the state in license fees and around Rs 90 crore per year as state GST.
