GGpoker to stop online poker services in 12 countries

GGPoker has been in the news ever since the 6-time WSOP bracelet winner and the most recognized poker player Daniel Negreanu joined hands as the new brand ambassador of the company. The growing GGNetwork has made another announcement now, by exiting 12 countries due to certain regulatory concerns.

The news was declared by GGPoker Head Jean Christophe Antione“We did pull out of some European countries due to regulation and we are looking into either acquiring licenses or partnering with locally licensed operators. There might be a little difference in how each skin handles this but overall we are moving towards getting regulated to each EU country eventually”.

11 of the 12 places where GGNetwork has abruptly pulled out are European countries including Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland, Georgia, which lies on the Europe-Asia border and Colombia on the north coast of South America.

However, the network is still allowing existing players from the above countries to play while not accepting any new users from the same. Apparently, it will eventually ask active customers to suspend their service and withdraw their funds. GGNetwork’s plan is somewhat dubious, in a text, representatives seem to have been suggesting that the players can access the network using Virtual Private Network. Further, the company will hold no liability for the customers using the VPN.

Initially available in Asia, GGPoker has expanded to other countries owing to its growing popularity. The company has also obtained a UK Gambling Commission license and collaborated with Sweden-based online gambling firm Enlabs to offer online poker in Lithuania and Estonia under the name Optibet. However, the company will seek licenses and once the legal situation becomes clearer, the network will plan on its return.
