Gaurav Sood takes down Uppercut on PokerStars

While some of our tops pros are roaming the world in search of big live scores, Gurgaon’s Gaurav Sood is busy strengthening his poker bankroll by accumulating a number of online victories. The last couple of months have seen him ship several featured tournaments across various websites and you can get a complete list of his wins here.

Every Friday night, PokerStars India hosts Uppercut PKO 6-Max INR 8 Lakh GTD, with a buy-in of INR 4,400. Sood decided to participate and eventually, he emerged victorious, adding Uppercut to his list of achievements in online poker. He beat the tough field and added INR 1,77,095 to his poker bankroll in the process.

The field consisted of a total of 184 entries and from them, only the top 35 were paid eventually, with the min-cash set at 3,891. However, the tournament’s bounty format allowed those finishing outside the money bubble to also take away a few prizes, depending on how many eliminations they made.

Before the winner was declared, we had some known faces being eliminated including Srihari Bang aka ‘bangbang1999’ (35th), Ankit Wadhawan aka ‘b00mtr00p3r’ (30th), Sahil Mahboobani aka ‘inaboobham’ (15th), Arjanveer Chadha aka ‘ballistik310’ (12th), Tathagata Sengupta aka ‘RadioActivity’ (10th), Arsh Grover aka ‘BiggggTymeR’ (7th), Sam Anand aka ‘TheRealLokimon’ (6th) and others.

It wasn’t long before Gaurav Sood, who plays as ‘3betPanda’ on PokerStars India, landed in heads-up against ‘vishtiru’. Sood has reached these stages of tournaments many times in the past and he managed to take down the tournament, making another bankroll boost while the runner-up won slightly below one lakh rupees. The tournament which began at 7:30pm last night ended by 2:39am this morning, lasting slightly over 7 hours.
