Gaurav Sood Finishes Third In Spartan Poker’s Monday Nitro

Monday Nitro INR 8 Lakhs GTD is an offering that recently was introduced as a feature tournament by Spartan Poker. The company is known to offer some of the best and innovative promotions/tournaments in the Indian online poker scenario. Mondays on Spartan previously had the Mega Freeze hosted which is now replaced by the above tournament.

Yesterday’s Monday Nitro attracted a total of 311 entries (including 36 re-entries and 118 re-buys) for a reasonable buy-in of INR 2,200. The top 27 places were paid for a min-cash of INR 8,000. The tournament, which began at 7.30 pm, the usual time for a feature tournament to begin on Spartan, ended at 11.49 pm the same night.

Overcoming the field and topping it was ‘Jhonnymaddog.’ He earned INR 1,48,550 as the higher amount out of the heads-up deal he made with his opponent ‘Veer’ who earned a similar amount of INR 1,48,249. Rounding up top 3 was Gaurav Sood aka ‘mozzie17’ who took home INR 82,320 as the runner-up pay-out.

‘Jhonnymaddog‘ is a regular player on virtual felts and won this tournament after a great comeback, which nobody would’ve expected. We talked to him after his win and he said, “There were 13 players left and I only had less than 3,000 chips to play with when the average stack was more than 250k. I subsequently bagged some good hands to finish in the tournament. That was amazing.”

Coming to the field of the tournament, it was filled with a handful of regs who finished in the top 27 paid places. Some of them include ‘gareeeb’ (10^th – INR 15,200), Kanav Parwal aka ‘Alibaba_kings’ (15^th – INR 12,000), latest SSS #21 winner Renbenthung Kikon aka ‘Renben Poker’ (16^th – INR 10,800), Zarvan Tumboli aka ‘BolAuntyAuKya’ (18^th – INR 9,600), and others.
