Gagandeep Malik has taken down the WPT Prime India 2023 High Roller title after beating Guneet Kwatra in the short-lived heads-up. Short-stacked Kwatra went all-in from the big blind with an A4s. Malik made the call with 8 ♠ T ♦ . The board fanned out to 2 ♦ T ♠ Q ❤ 5 ♦ Q ♠, giving Malik a T-pair to win the hand with two pairs. Malik takes home the top prize of ₹59,60,000, while Kwatra walks away with ₹39,55,000 for his runner-up finish.
Interestingly, last night when the players were discussing if they would continue playing or return for Day 3, it was Malik who was adamant about returning for Day 3. And guess what?! It seems like it has worked in his favour as he gloriously lifts the title today.
