Yesterday was Friday night and quite a few top online poker tournaments were hosted across the various platforms. One of the highlights of the night had to be Harshad Barve winning Elite on Spartan Poker which turned out to be his second Elite title on the platform, also finishing runner-up once. Keep reading for our complete roundup of last night’s featured tournaments!
With a buy-in of INR 11,000, not everyone can afford to enter this tournament on Spartan Poker which takes place each Friday night on their platform. That’s how the name Elite came into being and last night, we had 248 entries joining which missed the guarantee slightly by only 2 entries! Ending victorious was Harshad Barve aka ‘omglukbox’ who ended up shipping his second Elite title, this time after a heads-up deal with ‘peekaboo’, both winning healthy cash prizes for their efforts. 27 places were paid a min-cash of INR 25,000 and some of the known names to finish in the money were Manish Lakhotia (25th), Raghav Bansal (23rd), Siddarth Singhvi (22nd), Raman Gujral (21st), Sajal Gupta (16th), Eka Vedantham (13th), Sumit Sapra (12th), Ashish Ahuja (8th), Guneet Kwatra (7th), and many others.
When we caught up with the champion, he said, “The win was just at the right time as I was running bad for the last month and a half. It just helps to build the confidence. Cheers!” Apart from Elite, TGIF INR 10 Lakh GTD was also held on Spartan and it was won by ‘space ace’ who has been winning a lot in recent months but prefers to stay anonymous. Day 1B of the Millionaire Lite tournament also took place and we had Rohit Mishra aka ‘ShippingYard’ ending as the chip leader with a massive stack of 232,025 chips to take forward to Day 2!
Starting at 7:30pm last night, another major tournament to kick off was Uppercut on PokerStars India which had a buy-in of INR 4,400. A total of 167 entries participated and from them, the top 29 places finished in the money with a min-cash of INR 7,065. Someone like Goonjan Mall needs no introduction in the poker world and yesterday, he added another title to his trophy cabinet, shipping this tournament after displaying some great talent to beat Honey Bijlani aka ‘H09ey’ in heads-up. Mall has way below the average stack for a while, but he managed to recover well towards the end, to take away INR 1.27 Lakh in prize money from the tournament prize pool in addition to INR 62,562 from the bounty prize pool. As for Bijlani, he won a total of around INR 1.36 Lakh for finishing second.
Just yesterday, we spoke about Vishal Madan winning the 9stacks Thursday featured tournament and it wasn’t too long before he emerged victorious again, winning the Friday StackUp tournament and collecting successive titles on 9stacks (sign-up with code “GUTSHOT”). A total field of 96 entries registered last night and from them, Madan aka ‘GTOcrusher’ topped the field to collect the largest prize of INR 28,000 after he beat ‘MASK.MAN’ in heads-up.
