Feng Dashuai wins Silk Road Cup Main Event

We all know that poker in Asia is on a huge rise at the moment, with many new tournaments, leagues and poker venues popping up each year. Another new venue is that of the city of Xi’an in China, which is not the most popular for poker currently, but that is all going to change soon.

Why? Because the recent tournament series held there has turned out to be a massive success. The Silk Road Cup was held at the Xi‘an Baoyulin Poker Club between 19 and 24 July. It came to an end a couple of days back and the Main Event saw a remarkable participation of 1,112 entries. The CNY 2,200 buy-in tournament saw the top 90 places being paid out.

Due to this participation, the CNY 1 million guaranteed prize pool was crushed and more than doubled to CNY 2,224,000 (~INR 2.25 crore). There were some of Asia’s best players in the mix but at the end of the tournament, it was Feng Dashuai who overcame the competition and took home CNY 400,000 (~$59,000) for first-place.

This would’ve been a special win for Dashuai in many ways. Firstly, he overcame a tough field to win the title. Also, it was his second major Main Event victory, after shipping the China Tour Hefei Main Event in 2016. Thirdly, he recovered from less than 4 BBs on the Final Table to win the event, completing an impressive comeback. Xi’An was also his home city.

9. Chen Guo – CNY 29,000
