Esports Players Welfare Association Launches In India

The first of its kind Esports Players Welfare Association (EPWA) was recently launched in the country. The EPWA is a non-profit organisation, founded with a sole purpose of protecting and nurturing the rights of esports players in the country.

The organisation is founded by Ritesh Nath, who will also be the CEO of the association. Nath has been associated with companies like U Sports, Cornerstone Sports and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., Nielsen, and more. Shivani Jha will be the director, while Rudrashish Sengupta will head the marketing wing of the association.

The EPWA is a non-profit organisation in India that will function on a membership basis that will support its enrolled members with the required guidance and services.

  • Career Advice: The organisation will provide career advice to young minds who wish to make a career in esports.
  • Creation of a community: It will create a community of esports players who can interact and involve in discussions about esports in the country.
  • Contracts: review team, tournament, or sponsorship contracts of the players, to avoid any exploitation or cheating of players.
  • Legal Advice: It will provide fair legal support to players against contracts.
  • Dispute Resolution: In case players are faced with adverse situations, the organisation will support and guide them for the resolution of the disputes.

Interested individuals can sign up on the EPWA website and become a member of the EPWA. The membership gives individuals an access to avail all the services of the organisation.

Esports has been growing at a rapid pace in the country over the past few years. Due to this, an organisation to safeguard and look after esports players’ rights was the need of the hour, and the EPWA seems to be the right step in the direction.
