EPT 2018 to conclude at the Casino Atrium, Prague

Earlier, Gutshot reported that the European Poker Tour (EPT)’s 2019 edition will open in Sochi, Russia. In a latest development, PokerStars owned EPT will conclude its 2018 season in the Czech capital of Prague, as has always been the tradition in EPT’s history. Casino Atrium, situated inside the Hilton, Prague, will be host to this prestigious series. The EPT 2018 Prague will run between Dec. 7 and Dec. 18 with 43 electrifying events all lined up in this period. Two Platinum Passes to the PokerStars Players NLH Championship worth $30,000 each will also be awarded to players during the series.

Many distinguished poker pros will be present at the festival, giving the crowd an opportunity to meet and greet their role models. The focal point of the 12-day festival is going to be the EPT Prague EUR 5,300 (~INR 4.3 Lakhs) Main Event scheduled on Dec. 12-18. There will be two starting flights to the Main Event, one on Dec. 12 and the next on Dec. 13. These flights will start with 30,000 chips and the blinds will increase every hour. Players are allowed only one re-entry if the lose all their chips.

Last year’s EPT Prague Main Event champion was the Frenchman Kalidou Sow (as pictured below). Beating a field of 855 players and the American poker player Jason Wheeler in heads-up, Sow took home a jaw-dropping EUR 675,000 (~INR 5.47 Crores) in prize money. Wheeler shot a few verbal barbs at Sow, who dodged it calmly and proceeded to win the event in style. “I let him get away with it because I knew he wanted to have a go at me and troll me,” Sow said, responding to the trash talk. Sow, a small to mid-stakes recreational player from France, only grinded EUR 1K and EUR 2K events before this. “I’m dreaming, this is incredible” was Sow’s reaction after his career-best win.
