Elio Fox Leads Day 1 of the $100,000 High Roller

New York’s Elio Fox is having the time of his life at the ongoing 2018 World Series of Poker. He became the first to win a WSOP bracelet this year, by shipping Event #2: $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty a couple of days back. Today, he has finished Day 1 of Event #5: $100,000 High Roller as the chip leader.

No bracelets were awarded on Day 3 of the 2018 WSOP but four events have gone into the next day. In Event #3, Joe Cada leads the final 10 survivors going into Day 3 of the event, while three other events are still on in full swing. Here’s a roundup of those events:

Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo

A field of 911 entries registered to the first Omaha tournament of the 2018 WSOP. 295 survivors made it to Day 2 of the event, while the final 36 will go on to play in Day 3. Four former bracelet winners are in the hunt and these 36 will be battling it out for the title and $239,771 in prize money to the first-place. The pay-outs have already begun, and Brandon Ageloff currently holds the chip lead.

Event #5: $100,000 NLHE High Roller

This was the highest buy-in event of the year so far, with a total of 96 of some of the world’s top pros entering into the tournament, and 49 remaining at the close of Day 1. The late registration period is still on, so a prize pool hasn’t been decided as yet, in an event where Elio Fox holds the lead, aiming for his second bracelet of the year.

However, some of the best high stakes players are in the mix and it won’t be easy for Fox, with the likes of Dominik NitscheIsaac HaxtonDavid PetersRainer KempeJason MercierFedor HolzStephen Chidwick, Super High Roller Bowl winner Justin Bonomo and other top players still in contention. Who did you think will win this major title?

Event #6: $365 GIANT NLHE

With an extremely low buy-in to this event, a total of 1289 entries were recorded to the GIANT on Day 1a, with Danny Nguyen leading the day’s final 80 survivors. The event will be a 5-day one but will be spread over five consecutive Fridays, so it’ll be a while before a winner is crowned in this tournament. Very few bracelet winners are a part of these 80 survivors.
