Delta Corp’s ‘Entertainment City’ Greenlit; Stock rises 10.40%

It seems like Goa is finally headed the Integrated Resorts (IR) way like many gaming hotspots in Asia and the globe. India’s only listed gaming and hospitality company Delta Corp has received an approval from the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board for its massive project in Pernem. Shri Pramod Sawant, the Chief Minister of Goa in conjunction with the board has cleared the company’s project dubbed as Entertainment City. 

Delta Corp currently owns and operates several casinos in Goa, Sikkim, and Daman. The upcoming 100-acre project in Pernem may include a land casino, waterpark, resort, and multiplexes and it is just 5 kilometers away from the new Mopa International Airport. As per the reports earlier, the integrated resort is supposed to have hotels, convention centers, multiplex cinemas, retail areas, electronic casinos, water parks, and several other facilities. This Entertainment City is touted to be a one-of-a-kind facility. The proposal for this Integrated Resort was initiated in December 2020. 

The project in Pernem stirs the debate about the existence of floating casinos at Mandovi river and how this plan of Delta Corp will be a solution for a casino on land. Delta Corp is the only public listed gaming company that is involved in casino gaming. Delta Corp offers around 1,800 gaming positions and is considered to be one of the largest gaming companies in India.

While Goa is already known for the exuberance and high-spirited social life, this integrated resort will be incorporating top-notch facilities. The project is sure to attract more tourists and add to the state’s economy. 

The stock markets predictably reacted in a positive manner on this news with shares of Delta Corp rising by 10.40% today to INR 208.65 (as at 3:29 PM on Thursday, 2nd September). This initiative will prove to be a massive boost for poker players and gaming enthusiasts in and around Goa.
