Deepankur Gupta Snags 7th Rank At APT Phu Quoc 2024 ME

Deepankur Gupta made Indians proud on the final day of the APT Phu Quoc Main Event, standing 7th on the pay-out list of the event, which had a whopping 795 entrants. The total prize pool was a considerable VND 32,400,000, of which Jinlong Hu took the lion’s share of VND 4,710,000,000. Gupta took home  VND 642,500,000. 120 entrants got payouts, with the lowest being Yu Chung Chang, who took home  VND 28,125,000. The event’s final table saw some gritty poker, with Jinlong Hu having a heads-up play with runner-up Junseok Oh.

As for Deepankur, he tried his level best to ship the event and decided to give his best even at the final table. He went all-in with ace-king against Hu’s ten-eight suited. Gupta had the advantage until the flop, but the turn brought Hu a pair. This led to Gupta’s elimination in seventh place, giving him the aforementioned amount of VND 642,500,000.

Gupta has had an excellent 2024, with him previously shipping the Vietnam Open at the Vietnam Open Poker Tour, which gave him a payday of VND 1.2 Billion, which was his best live cash until the time of writing this article. He is among several talented Indian poker players making their mark on foreign shores. According to Hendon Mob, he is 71st on the Indian all-time money list. That is a long way from his first cash, which he had in 2021 at the WSOP $ 50 No Limit Hold’em – The Return (Event #1) ONLINE, where he took home $795.
