Deepak Bothra brings home his third Destiny title

Now this guy happens to be one of the best when it comes to Destiny on Spartan Poker. Currently in its tenth installment, Destiny has been running successfully since a couple of years and Deepak Bothra has been one of the most consistent performers in this tournament series. In fact, his latest online win came while playing from the poker capital, Las Vegas!

Destiny 10.0 INR 20 Lakh GTD is a weekly featured tournament which has a buy-in of INR 5,500 and we aren’t lying when we say that the fields in this tournament are usually among the toughest going around. Yesterday too, a strong field of 412 entries registered to beat the guarantee ever so slightly; the new prize pool was distributed among the top 40 players with a minimum prize of INR 12,360 each.

Bothra plays as ‘chimpoo’ on Spartan Poker and this isn’t the first time he has emerged victorious in Destiny. In just the second edition back in 2017, he won his first Destiny title. In Destiny 3.0 in early 2018, he became the final entrant to the Finale SnG and that was his second Destiny title.

Over a year later, after picking up plenty other titles online, Bothra now has his third Destiny title on Spartan and it came with a massive bankroll addition of INR 5,45,900. He had to compete with some of the top names in online poker in India and outlasted them all including Kanishka Samant aka ‘Wildflower’ in heads-up.

Samant himself won a title recently, bagging Head-Hunter on this day last week on Spartan itself; here, he had to be content with the runner-up place and a prize of INR 3,39,900. Some other known names in the mix were Sumit Sapra (4th), Phanindra Akkina (7th), Neeraj Kumar (8th), Sajal Gupta (12th), Rajat Mahajan (18th), Lakshpal Singh (19th), and many others.

What’s even more impressive is that the winner is among several Indian players who are in Las Vegas at the moment playing in the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP), so he probably woke up early in the morning for this grind. He has even got three cashes so far in the series including one in the Millionaire Maker Event.
