David Baker wins 2nd bracelet, Rob Campbell wins 2nd in 2019

Event #66: $1,500 Limit Hold’em

With a pretty low buy-in and the most commonly played format of poker, it came as no surprise that we had 541 entries to this tournament, where it was David Baker who emerged victorious. The 4-day tournament saw ‘ODB’ Baker ending as chip leader on Day 2 and Day 3 as well, before taking down the title on Day 4.

His last gold bracelet came way back in WSOP 2012 where he won Event #37 but his wait for the second ended recently, while also strengthening his bankroll by $161,139. Baker also commented later saying he had 6 or 7 bracelet bets with his friends and that he was glad he ended up securing one.

“It was a huge burden. All my friends had more bracelets than me, so I’ve been really wanting to get No. 2 for a long time and finally did. I’m thrilled. I think it’s pretty obvious I wear my heart on my sleeve when it comes to the WSOP and what it means to me,” he said after winning the NLH tournament.

Final Table Results:

  1. David ‘ODB’ Baker – $161,139
  2. Brian Kim – $99,564
  3. Dominzo Love – $68,353
  4. Ruiko Mamiya – $47,747
  5. Chris Ferguson – $33,948
  6. Chicong Nguyen – $24,574
  7. Kenneth Donoghue – $18,118
  8. Danny Woolard – $13,609
  9. Greg Mueller – $10,418

Event #67: $10,000 Stud Hi-Lo Championship

Since the year 2000, we have had at least one player who has won two gold bracelets in a year and this time too, it was Robert Campbell of Australia who managed to keep this streak alive, bagging his second bracelet of WSOP 2019 after winning the $10k Stud Championship.

Earlier this year, Campbell won Event #33 which was a lowball tournament and this will surely be one of the best summers of his life so far. In heads-up, he beat China’s Yueqi Zhu who was unfortunate enough to bag his second runner-up finish in the series. Prior to this, he came 2nd in Event #63 as well.

“I had probably played less poker [coming into the summer] than I’ve ever played, and I felt really really excited to play. I was really excited to come to Vegas, much more excited than I had been in the past,” said Campbell who bagged $385,763 and took his career winnings past the $1 million mark.

Final Table Results:

  1. Robert Campbell – $385,763
  2. Yueqi Zhu – $238,420
  3. Mike Wattel – $164,647
  4. Mike Matusow – $116,255
  5. Ryan Hughes – $83,971
  6. Qinghai Pain – $62,079
  7. Andrey Zhigalov – $46,999
  8. Steven Wolansky – $36,460
