Dalmia group launches ‘Poker Johny’ website

All the big entities in the country seem to be aware of the poker boom that has been taking place in India since the last couple of years and all of them want to get a piece of the action. With the industry growing and legal restrictions decreasing, we’re slowly seeing more and more poker companies being formed.

Just a few days back, we reported the launch of Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty’s Poker Raj website which kicked off operations on 16th September 2018 with an INR 3 lakh freeroll open to all users. Just a few days later, we have news of another big company getting into the poker business.

The latest to join the business is Caretel Infotech Limited, a software company and BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) that is promoted by the Dalmia Group. Sanjay Dalmia’s ‘Dalmia Group’ now becomes the third listed company to enter the poker business after Delta Corp (Adda52) and Viaan Industries (PokerRaj).

Until recently, Essel Group was another listed company that owned a poker business called PokerNation, but that shut operations earlier this month. Dalmia’s website is known as ‘Poker Johny’ and is already live and you can head over there to start playing. A domain search shows that the website is registered on the name of Rajesh Sehgal, Caretel Infotech CEO.

Users can play via apps on desktop and smartphones, while there is also an ‘Instant Play’ option available. There doesn’t seem to be too many tournament options available on the website as yet and we will have to see how they plan their marketing activities in the coming weeks and months.
