Christopher Puetz takes down WPT Germany Main Event!

Counted among the most prestigious festivals, the World Poker Tour (WPT) Germany halted after running for 15 successful days at the King’s Casino in Rozvadov. The native player Christopher Puetz conquered the Main Event outlasting Laszlo Papai in heads-up to pocket a hefty €270,000 in prize money!

The Main Event €1.5 Million GTD drew 510 entries after paying €3,300 buy-in that collected a higher prize pool and the money reached out to the top finishers. Day 4 resume with final nine players with all eyes reigning on the 2019 WSOP Main Event champion Hossein Ensan, looking forward to making history by winning a WSOP bracelet, EPT and WPT title. He sat second in chip lead after Gianluca Speranza.

After Germany’s Rifat Gegic busted in 9th place followed by Renato Nowak, it was Ensan to bubble the final table, walking out in 7th place for €40,000.

Dutch player Farukh Tach was the first casualty to depart the six-handed table when he shoved with Jack Ten and Papai dominated with his Ace King. Josef Gulas was eliminated in 4th place when he couldn’t catch up to Joep van den Bijgaart. Eventually, Papai knocked out Bijgaart in third place who held a commanding lead as three-handed play began.

This gave way to heads-up, Papai was slightly ahead of Puetz with 10.77 million chips. However, Papai lost a massive pot to Puetz. In the next hand, he put his entire stack in the middle holding his 4d 4h and a call from Puetz who had Qd 9c. The flop and turn 4c 9h Qs Qh proved favourable for Puetz while only four on the river could save Papai. 7h completed the board and that’s when the 23-year old student turned master ended up becoming the latest champ. Lifting his trophy along with the prize money, he also locked the $15,000 package to the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions.
