Can WSOP 2018 see its first female winner?

Over 30 events have crowned winners so far at the 2018 World Series of Poker, but they have all been male winners. Event #36: $1,000 Super Seniors NLHE kicked off three days back at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and at the end of Day 3, just two players remain out of the original field of 2,191 entries.

The minimum age for this event was reduced from 65 to 60, which saw an increased participation as compared to last year’s 1,720 entries and a total prize pool of $1,971,900 was created, with $311,451 reserved for the winner. The final two include American poker players Robert Beach and female player Farhintaj Bonyadi.

Both have never won a gold bracelet in the past and in fact, both have no major wins prior to running so deep in this tournament. Bonyadi has more experience in the live poker circuit than Beach, but she will be coming out tomorrow with over a 1:4 chip deficit against him.

Beach started Day 3 with just 9 big blinds but made a great comeback to take the lead and he now holds over 9 million chips as compared to Bonyadi’s 1.9 million. Whoever wins, it will be their largest live poker cash by a long way and while Beach has a huge lead, many poker enthusiasts will be on the rail for Bonyadi, to see the first woman bracelet winner of WSOP 2018.

The day started with 43 survivors, of which just one player had a WSOP bracelet on his poker CV, but come tomorrow, one of these can show off that gold bracelet too. Level 30 of the tournament is running at the moment, with blinds running 40,000/80,000 – 10,000.

Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com to know whether Beach can keep his lead and take down the title, or Bonyadi overcomes the deficit to become the first female winner of the series.
