Bothra wins Gayle Storm 5.0; Chhabria ships Millions

Sunday on Adda52 was a grand affair since the signature Gayle Storm 5.0 was also hosted yesterday, along with their feature Sunday tournament, Adda52 Millions 6-Max. The tournaments saw huge fields being attracted and both had some of the top talents in the country competing against each other.

Gayle Storm 5.0 INR 50 Lakhs GTD

The tournament began at 5 pm yesterday evening on Adda52 and was in the books by 2.55 am today morning. Well-known circuit player Deepak Bothra aka ‘bothras’ won the biggest tournament of the day for INR 7,90,913 after beating a field of 1,027 entries (including 917 re-entries). Top 197 places were being paid in the tournament, which had a buy-in of INR 2,250. Bothra managed to beat another regular grinder Rohit Mishra aka ‘rohit22rm’ in heads-up to bag his title. Mishra also cashed a significant amount of INR 5,68,220 for his 2nd place finish.

Bothra is a regular on various online platforms in India, having shipped plenty of tournaments in the past. Just on The Spartan Poker, he has shipped its feature tournament DestinytwiceIOPC PLO SHR in Jan 2018, and Flash this month for over INR 4 Lakhs being his latest victory. The Adda52 feature Sunday win this time saw him adding a significant amount to his bankroll and he’ll be hoping to continue this winning trend ahead in the year as many exciting tournaments are already announced.

Given the prestige and value of the tournament, it saw some top regulars from the country participating in it. The Final Table itself was studded with Abhishek Goindi aka ‘pomfret1989’ filling the 4th position for INR 2,93,775 and recent IOPC SHR winner Gokul Raj aka ‘gokoolered at 5th place for INR 2,11,212. Rubin Labroo aka ‘kornkif‘ too finished in the money at 8th for INR 78,509.

Millions 6-Max INR 20 Lakhs GTD

This tournament started a bit later than the Gayle Storm at 8 pm last evening. The field of 229 entries (including 83 re-entries) played for almost 8 hours, till 3.52 am in the morning, before the champion was declared. The tournament broke its guarantee and created a new prize pool of INR 22,90,000 for a buy-in of INR 11,000.

Well-known community figure and ace player Shravan Chhabria aka ‘sweatmyass13’ shipped the Millions 6-Max and saw a hefty pay-check of INR 5,19,121 for his victory. He beat ‘NormanBates’ in heads-up to conquer his title and the runner-up had to settle for INR 4,75,884 for his finish. Chhabria has been playing live and online for a long time now and has plenty of victories in his recorded career. He won the Adda52 Godfather 4.0 SnG Finale in September last year and bagged the Europe package trip that came with it. He then went on to win a WSOP Europe Package through PokerBaazi, another leading poker site.

Among his other big wins on Adda52 are Maverick and Whale. This is not his first Millions title, having last won it in December 2018. The player is highly skilled and will come as no surprise if he ships a few more big tournaments this month and the rest of the year.

The field was filled with regs hoping to convert their buy-ins into huge prizes. Top 24 places were being paid in the tournament. Siddarth Singhvi, regular online player and winner of last week’s Elite on Spartan was also playing in the Adda52 Millions under his pseudonym ‘badtameez_donk’ and finished deep at 6th and saw a pay-out of INR 97,325 to his name.
