‘BIGBANG5759’ wins SSS Big Daddy tournament and trip to Goa

The Big Daddy tournament is one of The Spartan Poker’s most popular tournament offerings. Why, you ask? Not just does the winner take away his/her tournament winnings, but the player also wins an INR 30,000 package trip to play poker at the Big Daddy poker room in Goa. Pretty neat, isn’t it?

SSS Event #34 Big Daddy INR 10 Lakh GTD had an afternoon start as it has every Sunday and a massive field of 861 entries registered to the INR 1,100 buy-in tournament. After 7 hours and 45 minutes, the tournament came to an end slightly before midnight, and the Goa package winner was declared!

The tournament paid out 72 winners with a minimum cash prize of INR 3,500. However, the player to walk away with the highest return on investment was ‘BIGBANG5759’ who won the top prize of INR 1,81,000 in this SSS-special Big Daddy tournament, along with a trip to Goa including flight tickets, hotel stay and entry to the Big Daddy poker room!

BIGBANG5759 beat Suraj Rathi aka ‘Bugsbunny08’ in heads-up, who had to settle for the runner-up prize of INR 1,31,000. Interestingly, Rathi himself shipped the Big Daddy tournament two Sundays back, where he won INR 95,000 for first place; here, he narrowly missed out on his second Big Daddy title.

The long grind came to an end in Level #60 of the tournament, with the blinds at 37,500/75,000 – 7,500. Here, action reached what became the final hand after BIGBANG5759 managed to create a chip lead of over 3:1 against Rathi and both players had shoved in their stacks pre-flop. 

BIGBANG5759 started the pre-flop action with a 112k raise, and Rathi re-raised him to 380k. BIGBANG5759 then shoved all-in and revealed As Qd as Rathi made the call with Th Ah. BIGBANG5759 went immediately ahead as the board opened Qs 3c 2h 9s 8d and that pair of Queens was enough to win him the trip to Goa, along with an SSS title!
