BGMI Players Can Play PUBG Mobile At Asian Games Next Year

The 2022 Asian Games recently announced a list of several esports titles. Esports will make its debut at the gaming event this year. The popular battle royale game PUBG Mobile was one of the titles that was announced. However, the game is unavailable in some of the regions, which has left players wondering which version of the game will be played at the Asian games. The 2022 Asian Games will take place in Hangzhou in China. 

PUBG Mobile esports game is unavailable in China, however, a version of the game which goes by the name Game for Peace is available only for the Chinese audience. Similarly, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), a game similar to PUBG, is distributed by Krafton. Similarly, region-specific variants of the game are prevalent in Taiwan, Korea/Japan, and Vietnam.

Due to the number of variants available, there was ambiguity about the version that will be played at the Asian Games. Clearing the ambiguity, Krafton released a blog post announcing that they would create a new version of the game, which will be available worldwide, and players from every region can practice on the new version.

Minu Lee, the head of the PUBG Mobile Strategic Marketing Department at Krafton, said “We are pleased to have Battleground Mobile as an official event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, which will be a venue for harmony among Asians. We hope to have one global fan and players through a new version of Battleground Mobile for the Asian Games, which was developed with Battleground IP.”

In the same blog post, the developer also revealed that players in the Indian region can access the Asian Games version via the Battlegrounds Mobile India app.
