Benjamin Pollak Wins US Poker Open Event #6

News: Benjamin Pollak wins Event #6 of the US Poker Open for $416,500!

Full story: It has been some intense grinding at the 2018 US Poker Open, which began on 1st February to find the best all-round high stakes poker player. After 5 events, it was Stephen Chidwick who had a huge lead on the Championship standings and it really didn’t look like anyone had a chance of catching up with him.

Yesterday, Ben Tollerene won Event #5 of the USPO and the action immediately turned to Event #6: $25,000 NLHE. Once again, it was the familiar names of Chidwick, Daniel Negreanu, Isaac Haxton and others who reached the final table of this event. While Haxton was enjoying the chiplead for quite some time, Negreanu and Chidwick held the lowest stacks for majority of their time in the final 10.

The US Poker Open winners have shown a trend of coming from a short stack to win the title and that’s what Chidwick attempted once again, by eliminating Negreanu at 7th place, winning a big pot and catapulting to the chiplead towards the end of Day 1.

However, it wasn’t ‘third time lucky’ for Chidwick, who busted in third place in this event but still took home a respectable purse of $183,750. Ultimately, USA’s Jason Koon and Frenchman Benjamin Pollak took on each other in heads up, and the tournament was wrapped up within 87 hands on Day 2.

A total of 49 entries led to the prizepool going up to $1,225,000 and it was Pollak who took away the top prize of $416,500, jumping to second position on the Championship standings. He has now earned $554,600 in the 2018 US Poker Open but is still a long way behind the leader Stephen Chidwick, who reached the final table in 4 out of 6 events in the USPO.

“I wanted to prove to myself that I can beat the best,” said Pollak, and he did exactly that, claiming the largest individual prize at the 2018 USPO so far. Pollak had also accepted Negreanu’s $50,000 bet on a must-win leaderboard race prior to the start of this series.
