APT Vietnam: Manish Lakhotia ships NLH Single Day Event #1

It’s a really good time for India in live poker at the moment, with several new developments and achievements by our pros not just locally in online poker, but also on the global stage. Currently, two major tournament series taking place across the world are the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) and the Asian Poker Tour (APT) in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

The volume and prize pools are obviously smaller than the WSOP series in Las Vegas but softer fields and closer to home means there were quite a few Indians in action. Running simultaneously with the Main Event is the NLH Single Day Event #1 which recently came to an end, and we had one of our very own being crowned as champion.

With a buy-in of VND 8.8 million attached to the tournament, a total of 79 runners battled it out in this tournament and ultimately, it was Manish Lakhotia who emerged victorious and pocketed a decent score of VND 166,510,000 (~INR 4.89 Lakh) along with an APT trophy.

Only 14 players were paid out here and the bubble had burst on Stephen Schumacher a while before Lakhotia was declared winner. With this title, not only did Lakhotia win bragging rights but he also won vital points towards the race for the APT Player of the Series. In heads-up, he beat England’s Michael Newby in just one hand where KQ faced off against K2 and Lakhotia hit two pairs on the board.

Total Pay-outs:

  1. Manish Lakhotia – VND 166,510,000
  2. Michael Newby – VND 111,010,000
  3. Hwang Seong Il – VND 77,170,000
  4. Kim Jae Hyuk – VND 55,740,000
  5. Lee Jang Hee – VND 41,680,000
  6. Jason Andrew Grunow – VND 32,170,000
  7. Vu Huynh Leanh – VND 25,550,000
  8. Koh Lin Jun – VND 20,810,000
  9. Yuichiro Endo – VND 17,350,000
  10. Chun Wai Chiu – VND 14,450,000
  11. Dhanesh Chainani – VND 14,450,000
  12. Yi Hing Cheng – VND 12,050,000
