Philippine player Vamerdino Magsakay bagged the chip lead after we wrapped up Day 2 of the APT Vietnam Championships Event yesterday at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. This is one of two highlight events at APT’s second stop in Vietnam of 2019 and has a guarantee of VND 6 Billion!
Day 2 began with 74 runners in contention to win the title and by the time we completed the scheduled 8 levels of play, we were left with only the final 24 players. Magsakay bags the chip lead with 718,000 chips while one of the chip leaders on Day 1B Cao Ngoc Anh has the second largest stack of 699k. Day 1A chip leader Joseph Talamayan rounds up the top 3 with 627k chips.
As for Team India, there were 6 players who began the day but half of them were knocked out by the time play ended. Indians to carry on to Day 3 today are Ashish Munot, Sumit Sapra and Lakshpal Singh, with stacks of 328k, 305k and 243k respectively. All three of them will be aiming for nothing less than the APT Vietnam Championships title!
In the Main Event, we had a couple of Indian contenders and the deepest run was made by Manoj Pentakota, finishing 12th eventually as China’s Zhou Jiaping went on to ship the title. Here, we’re expect a better finish from one of our Indian pros, even though they’re all below the current average stack of 398k!
