APT Vietnam Kickoff: Sapra makes it to the Main Event FT!

Vietnam can be counted as of the major destination for the poker players. Its been quite a while now that the region has become one of the favoured locations to host prestigious tournament series all around the year. And once again, the new decade embarked with the 2020 Asian Poker Tour (APT) Vietnam Kickoff. Thoroughly a busy day yesterday, forming the final 8 players in the VND 20,00,000 Main Event.

The action-packed Main Event observed a total of 365 runners and only 50 hopefuls took their seats yesterday at the Pro Poker Club. With a gigantic stack of 2.69 million, South Africa’s Rayhaan Adam claimed Day 3, leading the final 8 players to battle it out! Following the tail of the chip leader is Hong Kong’s Ho Yin Shek accumulating 992,000 chips and the native player Tuan bagging 834,000 chips.

The board displaying a prize pool of VND 7.76 billion (~INR 2.37 Crore) is given out to the top 37 places, strolling out with their minimum amount of VND 41,950, after India’s Meherzad Munsaf became the bubble boy of the tournament, unfortunately being eliminated in the 38th place.

The day commenced with the chip leader Francis Garson, but Adam continued to crush the competition. Eventually, Yuwen Pan delivered two prominent names in the Main Event, David Erquiaga and India’s Dhaval Mudgal, denying both players a min-cash. While the only Indian contender pouncing his way to the final table is Sumit Sapra amassing a total of 722,000 chips.

Final table chip counts:

  1. Rayhaan Adam – 2,697,000
  2. Yuwen Pan – 1,163,000
  3. Francis Garson – 1,136,000
  4. Hwang Sang Yeon – 1,004,000
  5. Ho Yin Shek – 992,000
  6. Tuan – 834,000
  7. Sumit Sapra – 722,000
  8. Brandon Mifsud – 567,000

The final day will resume today, 17 January at 1:30 pm local time. The first casualty in the tournament is assured VND 216,430,000 (~INR 6.62 Lakhs) while each one will be battling to conquer VND 1,731,440,000 (~INR 53.06 Lakhs). Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com for timely APT Vietnam Kickoff updates, results as well as general poker news from around the world.
