The Asian Poker Tour (APT) began its latest stop at Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam a couple of days back. The series is scheduled between 3-14 July and the Main Event VND 8 Billion GTD kicked off yesterday with the first starting flight – Day 1A. The fields are softer since most of the top Asian pros are in Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker (WSOP).
It was a good first couple of days for the Indians present at Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh, with Rubin Labroo finishing 3rd in Event #1 Monster Stack yesterday. Further, we had one Indian progressing among only 20 survivors at the end of Day 1A of the Main Event, which attracted a total of 45 entries (38 unique and 7 re-entries).
Austria’s Christoph Friesinger bagged the chip lead at the end of the night with 120,800 chips in possession. He leads 20 survivors from the original field and among them is also India’s Manoj Pentakota, who progresses with 45,100 chips, also finishing among the top 10 stacks of the day.
Two more starting flights are still to be played so we’re expecting bigger fields in the next couple of days including a lot more Indians players participating. The buy-in stays the same at VND 22 Million and the guarantee is a minimum of VND 8 Billion in total prize money.
