APT Taiwan: Huang Yi Qing leads Day 1A of Championships Event

The Championships Event TWD 6 million being the second featured tournament in Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan kicked off yesterday after the conclusion of Main Event TWD 6 million GTD recently. Hosted at Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association aka CPT Club, the thrilling action wrapped up Day 1A.

APT is counted among the prestigious brands of the Asian region. So far, the series is filled with various pro poker players. After the scheduled eight-round of the event, the initial day saw a small chunk of 56 players entering for a buy-in of TWD 49,500. As the event progressed, 31 survived to move onto Day 2. Bagging the largest stack on the first day was China’s Huang Yi Qing leading with 251,000 chips.

With total live earnings of over 85k, Qing earned his career-best live cash of $55,848 for finishing 2nd in 2018 Oriental Poker Championship NLH Turbo in Sanya. He is also recorded to win the 2019 APPT Jeju The Closer back in July. While the Championships Event was crowded with Asian poker players dominating the field, Craig Edwards was the sole contender representing US, just behind the chip leader with 186,000 chips.

The first day was lit with several notable players including the 2019 APPT NLH Jeju winner Simba with 181,000 chips, the 2019 PKC Main Event champion Chow Cliff with 101,700 chips, 2019 APT Philippines Championships Event 2nd place finisher Graeme Siow with 83,100 chips, the 2017 PokerStars Festival NLH Manila champion Chan Tsun Ming with 49,500 chips and so on.
